Create Balance in Life
Whether it is between our personal or professional life, family or friends, physical vs.mental health, maintaining an appropriate balance can be very difficult.
It takes effort, time management, ability to prioritize and a clear understanding of who we are as an individual.
Our values and beliefs become more clear and decisions are easier when we understand ourselves.
If you find yourself struggling with life, anger, depression, maybe physical symptoms or relationships you may be out of balance in your life. Sometimes we think we are managing okay. But, then, an event or situation puts us over the edge. Coping is diminished and too often we pick up unhealthy habits like too much food or alcohol.
This is where my services may be helpful. As a therapist for the last 20 years it is my job to understand your life with objectivity. It is my job to help you discover where and why you are struggling.
It might be:
- creating appropriate boundaries
- making a change in how or where you spend time
- learning how speak up in a way that you can be heard, understood or validated
- exploring new solutions and strategies to deal with the complexities of life
To achieve balance we must accept that we are in a constant state of change. Life happens all around us and we must be able to adapt to the complexities of relationships and various situations. For example, a change in employment can change income, friends, stress level, travel time, responsibilities at home etc.
Take a moment, stand up on both feet, now raise one leg and balance yourself for 30 seconds. Now do your other leg. What did you notice? Do you have a dominate side?Did you notice the small muscles in your feet continually moving? Those muscles had to make constant adjustments in order for you to maintain your balance. So by raising one leg there is a chain reaction that requires an adjustment response
…just like a change in jobs or a new baby in the house.
